Me complace enviarte el programa del “II Simposio de Tratamiento de Inducción en Cáncer de Pulmón” e invitarte a celebrarlo con nosotros en Lleida el próximo 1 de marzo del 2012.
Como sabes, es una reunión dedicada íntegramente al cáncer de pulmón localmente avanzado y se desarrolla en un foro de neumólogos, patólogos, radiólogos, cirujanos, oncólogos médicos, radioterapeutas y demás especialistas dedicados a su manejo. Un foro donde queremos que te sientas en casa y que necesita también de tu opinión.
Por ello, tratando de mejorar respecto a la edición pasada (y te aseguro que tomaremos nota de tus sugerencias para la futura), desde el comité organizador, hemos introducido algunas novedades. Aparte de pulir la logística, contamos este año con la presencia de ponentes y oyentes de países vecinos que dan un carácter internacional al evento y esperamos se amplíe en futuras convocatorias por cuanto nos enriquece.
Además hemos abierto un concurso de comunicaciones poster para residentes, que expondremos durante la reunión y premiaremos con 600 euros a la mejor, y a la que ruego animéis a los de vuestro a participar.
Encontrarás en el programa y en la página web de la reunión información más completa y una lista de empresas patrocinadoras que colaboran en la inscripción. Gracias a ellas podemos celebrar nuevamente este evento y, sin duda, te serán de ayuda.

Executive Education in Biobancos

En los últimos años se ha producido un interés creciente por el desarrollo de colecciones de muestras biológicas humanas y biobancos.
Estos últimos se han convertido en plataformas tecnológicas indispensables para el desarrollo de la investigación básica y clínica. Para ello, las muestras deben tener una calidad global asociada, no sólo a las condiciones de recogida y conservación, sino también a su trazabilidad y a la precisión y fiabilidad de los datos clínicos asociados a las mismas.
La característica de las muestras biológicas como soportes de información personal y familiar requiere que sean tratadas de acuerdo a los nuevos requerimientos éticos y legales. Por estas razones, la Ley 14/2007, de Investigación Biomédica (LIB) dota por primera vez en España de un marco normativo al proceso de toma de muestras y su almacenamiento con fines de investigación, donde el consentimiento del sujeto es un punto central. La LIB considera los biobancos como las estructuras básicas para facilitar el acceso de los investigadores a muestras de calidad en un ámbito de respeto a los derechos de los pacientes y donantes. Los biobancos se contemplan como instituciones de servicio público especialmente orientados a la Comunidad Científica.

Dirigido a: Este curso va dirigido a patólogos, técnicos en biobancos, investigadores, miembros de los comités de ética de la investigación, gestores, médicos y residentes.

All manufacturers of slide scanners are invited to participate in the 2nd International Scanner Contest (ISC) in Berlin, under the auspices of the European Society of Pathology, German Society of Pathology, and the Berufsverband Deutscher Pathologen e.V. (German Professional Organization of Pathologists)

Symposium in Anatomic Pathology

The 5th Arkadi M. Rywlin (AMR) slide seminar in anatomic pathology will be held at the Swedish Society of Medicine in Stockholm Sweden.
The AMR is a non-profit organization created in 1991 to promote and advanced exchange of ideas among academic and clinical pathologists throughout the world in a spritit of cooperation and collegiality. The format of the symposium will be an extended slide seminar.
A total of 76 selected cases will be presented and discussed by the faculty. A set of glass slides from the cases will be distributed to the first 150 regis-tered participants, and a syllabus will be given to all participants with a discussion of the cases. The symposium will focus mainly on diagnostic problems and controversies in surgical pathology utilizing a case study format and will be of interest to general surgical pathologists and trainees in
pathology.

La European Society of Pathology (ESP) celebra ahora sus congresos con una periodicidad anual. El próximo tendrá lugar en Praga, del 8 al 12 de septiembre de 2012. A Praga seguirán, como ciudades sede, Lisboa (2013), Londres (2014), Belgrado (2015) y Colonia (2016).
En el documento que se adjunta se ofrece información, puesta al día, sobre el congreso de Praga, siendo de destacar las fechas límite para la inscripción reducida (2 de abril de 2012) y para el envío de resúmenes (16 de abril de 2012). Los residentes estarán exentos del pago de la inscripción si solicitan una beca (bursary) y se les concede. Las solicitudes de beca pueden hacerse ya en la página web del congreso (www.esp-congress.org).
Se acompañan, asimismo, imágenes ilustrativas de la geografía, historia, arquitectura, literatura, gastronomía y comunicaciones de la emblemática ciudad de Praga, así como alguna vista del Centro de Congresos, otrora escenario de sonados acontecimientos políticos de tono carmesí.
En resumen, bien merecerá la pena concluir el verano de 2012 acudiendo al 24th European Congress of Pathology, que conjugará su alto nivel científico con el atractivo irresistible de la capital checa.
