ICCR Guidelines for the Development of Cancer Datasets

To the IAP divisions,

I am writing to invite the membership of your IAP division to review and provide comment on the draft cancer datasets developed by The International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting (ICCR).

The ICCR, initiated by the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP) and the US (CAP), UK (RCPath) and Australasian (RCPA) Colleges of Pathology, has been formed to develop common, internationally standardised and evidence-based cancer datasets for surgical pathology specimens.  Using the best international approaches, and leveraging the knowledge and experience of world–leading pathologists, the ICCR aims to ensure that all cancer reports, will be of the same high quality; ensuring completeness, consistency, clarity, conciseness and above all, clinical utility.

The ICCR has developed four cancer datasets – Lung, Melanoma, Prostate (Radical Prostatectomy), and Endometrium, which are now ready for public review and your feedback is sought.  In addition, we ask for comment on the process by which we develop datasets,  described in the Guidelines for the Development of Cancer Datasets document.

The four datasets and development guidelines are posted to the ICCR website as follows:

The documents will be available for comment until March 31st 2013. Feedback on the documents will be via an electronic form posted on the website. To avoid a burden of translation responses in English are preferred.

We would greatly appreciate you disseminating this notification to your membership and any other interested parties.

If you have any questions or have any issues accessing any documents or completing the online form, please contact me on the details below.
