The 13^th European Congress on Digital Pathology (ECDP 2016) will be held in Berlin, Germany, from 25 to 28 May 2016. Digital pathology which originally was a child of telepathology is growing up to an integration field of modern medicine with connections to systems science, image processing, business process modelling and knowledge management. Methodological changes in microscopic techniques, imaging, molecular pathology, genetics and bioinformatics are drivers of digital pathology. The fascinating program of the ECDP 2016 in Paris with insights in several new technologies will find it´s continuation in Berlin.

With respect of the speed of the technical developments during the last years it seems obvious to get an actual image of the potentials of the scanning technology and their applicability in daily practice. Consequently the Congress will be accompanied with third International Scanner Contest (ISC 2016).
