We are delighted to announce the organization of the 7th Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors Madrid Course in Madrid, Spain to be held in February 2019.

We are privileged to be presenting it again this year, and have increased, updated, and diversified its content to make it more applicable to relevant physicians than before.

The faculty include internationally renown orthopaedic oncology surgeons, musculoskeletal pathologists, bone radiologists, medical oncologists, reconstructive and reparative surgeons and medical radiation oncologists from the best sarcomas centers including Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston) and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston), David Geffen School of Medicine and Ronald Regan Medical Center of University of California Los Angles (UCLA ), Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, MD Anderson Cancer Center of University of Texas (Houston), Health Science Center of University of Texas San Antonio, University Hospital of New Jersey Medical School, (Newark), NOVA Southeastern University College of Allopathic Medicine (Fort Lauderdale), and La Paz University Hospital (Madrid).

The Course is based on the precepts established by its founder Dr. Henry J. Mankin and is supported by the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (www.msts.org). Many of the faculty are MSTS members and include leaders of its standing committees and president of the society.

The participants (120 – 150; 40% from outside of Spain) include residents, fellows, and practicing clinicians who are interested in orthopaedic, medical, and radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and reconstructive surgery who treat patients with bone and soft tissue neoplasms.

The course offers state of the art scientific information regarding the epidemiology, genetics, diagnosis, radiology and treatment of musculoskeletal tumors. In this course of 2019, we have the invaluable collaboration of Andrés Redondo, sarcoma medical oncologist, putting emphasis on the medical treatment of soft tissue sarcomas. The course offers to all multidisciplinary sarcoma team greater knowledge of the scientific basis of musculoskeletal pathology, in which the roles of the orthopaedic surgeon, pathologist and radiologist overlap. This is complemented by the range of different treatment options, both general (medical oncology) and local (orthopaedic oncology surgery, radiation oncology and reconstructive and reparative surgery. The course has new national speakers and renewed conferences, as well as an extension to practical clinical cases and interactive participation, making it increasingly attractive for all participants and assistants. A truly multidisciplinary approach is taken throughout the course, as it to be expected in the treatment of these kinds of pathologies.

This course was organized in Madrid in 2000, 2003, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2016 with excellent attendance figures, since when we have been repeatedly asked when we would be organizing it again. We feel privileged to be holding it again this year, having enlarged, updated and diversified its content to make it even more popular than before.
